Dr Kiran Martin

Spreading hope, radiance, and positivity across the lives of millions of people…

Dr Kiran Martin is the founder of Asha, a Community Health and Development Society working with over 900,000 people in more than 100 slum colonies across New Delhi.

Kiran is a medical doctor; she attained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, before completing advanced studies in Paediatrics.

In 1988, then a young Paediatrician, Dr Martin heard about a cholera outbreak in a South Deli Slum and was inspired to use her skills to help the poor and marginalised. So, Dr Martin went out to the slum, set up a borrowed table under a tree, and begun saving lives.

Today, Dr Kiran’s work in Urban Health development, healthcare, empowerment, education, financial inclusion and environment has garnered international recognition and awards. She has welcomed visits from global leaders such as Julia Gillard, the Governor General of New Zealand, the First Lady of Japan, as well as Cabinet Ministers from across the world.
