GUEST

Troy Kinne

Troy Kinne grew up a few hours from Melbourne, where he spent his time borrowing video cameras from the school library and filming sketches with his friends.

Labourer by day, stand-up comedian by night, Troy sent a CD performance to The Comedy Lounge and was booked for a spot. Winning the ‘You Gotta Be Joking’ competition Troy won a trip to New York to attend the American Institute of Comedy.

Returning to Australia, Troy became an in-demand act for Mining camps and The Australian Defence Force, and finally, Troy gave up his labouring job to become a full-time comedian.

Launching himself into the YouTube world when it was relatively new, Troy’s videos garnered attention from major Australian news broadcaster and newspapers.

In 2014, Kinne, Troy’s comedy sketch show, debuted on channel 7, and in 2015, Troy was nominated for the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer.

Troy captivates audiences both on stage and in front of the camera; with appearances on Nova FM’s Hughsie and Kate for Breakfast, Hamish & Andy, and Have You Been Paying Attention, and has performed at Caroline’s on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club, the Laugh Factory and The Hollywood Comedy Store.

Troy has published two books, Things Parents Never Hear From Their Kids and The Fat Fuck Fairies.

In 2019, Troy revealed that he suffers from a rare genetic heart condition called Dextrocardia, where his heart is on the right side of his body.
