Claudia Karvan grew up in Sydney’s Kings Cross, where her mum and step-dad ran Arthur’s nightclub.
Familiar with the film world through nightclub patrons, Claudia’s first acting role was at 10 years old. At 14, Claudia would play opposite Judy Davis in High Tide, which would later be recognised as her breakout role.
Acting in pivotal Australian projects such as The Secret Life of Us, Claudia’s career continued to grow as she built credentials as a producer, writer, and co-creator with a number of projects including Love My Way, Spirited and most recently Bump, alongside many others.
Claudia has been involved in 36 short and feature films, and 44 television productions, and has acted alongside Guy Pearce, Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Gibney, Richard Roxburgh, and Natalie Portman in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Claudia is also well acquitted with the stage, performing with the Sydney Theatre Company, State Theatre Company South Australia, and Wharf 2 Theatre.
Claudia has received multiple ACCTA awards, Logie Awards, been inducted into the Australian Film Walk of Fame and, in 2023 received the Medal of the Order of Australia for her contribution to Australian screen and television.
