Dyson Heppell is a legend of the Essendon Bombers AFL team, a cult member of their playing group since 2011.
Dyson grew up in Leongatha, where his talent for sport was quickly recognised, captaining the Gippsland Power in the TAC Cup in 2009 and 2010. In 2010, Dyson was selected in the Under 18’s All-Australian team.
Dyson was drafted to the Essendon Bombers as pick number 8, and he would go on to win the Rising Star Award. In 2014, Dyson won Essendon’s Best and Fairest award, and received a selection in the All-Australian Team.
Dyson was embroiled in the Essendon Supplement Saga, and consequently missed the entire 2016 season. In 2017, Dyson was named captain of the Bombers, a role he held executed brilliantly for 6 years. Dyson retired from Essendon at the conclusion of the 2024 season, after playing 253 games.
Away from the footy field, Dyson is deeply invested in his community. Dyson launched Haych The Label in collaboration with his long-time friend Harrison, or H, who suffers from scleroderma. Haych The Label aims to raise money for H’s bucket list (the ride in the Lambo had already been ticked off).
