GUEST

Ellyse Perry

Ellyse Perry was 16 years old when she made her debut for the Australian cricket team. 13 days later, Ellyse made her debut for The Matilda’s, scoring a goal in the first two minutes of their 8-1 victory to Hong Kong.

Growing up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Ellyse spent most of her childhood outside playing sport with her brother, dad, and mum.

Where individual pursuits such as swimming, athletics and tennis made her incredibly nervous, Ellyse gravitated towards team sports, with a particular interest in football and cricket.

The youngest player ever to debut for the Australian cricket team, and the only person ever to have played for Australia in both football and cricket World Cups, it is an easy assumption to make that Ellyse is the best athlete in Australia.

Ellyse has been named the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year in 2017 and 2019, won the ICC Player of the Decade in 2020, and has won the Belinda Clark Award as Australia’s Women’s International Cricketer of the Year three times.

In 2016, Ellyse released a series of four young adult books, and in 2019 released a non-fiction book, Perspective.

Currently, Ellyse plays for the Birmingham Phoenix in the UK, the NSW Breakers in the WNCL, and the Sydney Sixers in the BBL.
