At just 12 years old, Luke received a scholarship from the Canberra Raiders and just 3 days after graduating high school, Luke left his whole life behind, moving to Canberra to pursue his dream of playing professional NRL.

Contracts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, playing in front of full stadiums, the fiancé, the apartment, the sponsorships, the car, by his own metrics, Luke was living out his childhood dream.

In 2020, a serious knee injury combined with mental health struggles lead to his retirement from professional sport.

In 2021, Luke entered rehab for a severe gambling addiction.

After a hard fought, non-linear journey of recovery, Luke turned his life into something that aligned with his authentic self.

In 2023, Luke was one of three suitors on The Bachelor Australia, and in has also competed on I’m A Celebrity … Get My Out Of Here.

In 2025, Luke became a permanent fixture of BookTok (a side of TikTok and Instagram that engages with books), as he posted a video of himself expressing how much reading means to him.

Since this post, Luke has amassed over 1 million followers across social platforms, released his own podcast In The Good Books, and signed a two-book deal with Atria Books Australia.
