Darcy Vescio is a professional Australian rules footballer in the AFL Women’s League. Darcy is a two-time AFLW’s Leading Goal Kicker recipient, two-time All-Australian players and was crowned Carlton’s Best & Fairest in 2021.
They were born and raised in Markwood, in Victoria near Wangaratta. Darcy has Italian and Chinese parents and attended school at Wangaratta High School.
Darcy began playing football with their brother at the age of five, almost quitting footy entirely when they were 14 and no longer allowed to play with the youth boys team.
Darcy was signed as a marquee player by Carlton in July 2016, and in their debut match against Collingwood they kicked a game-high four goals (which was more than Collingwood’s overall team score).
Darcy is openly non-binary and is a passionate advocate for multiculturalism and gender equality.
