Ita O’Brien

Ita O’brien’s work has changed the way we understand, and watch, intimacy.

After working in the musical theatre space as a dancer for over a decade, Ita completed her master’s in movement.

In June 2017, Ita formalised the “Intimacy On Set Guidelines”, a landmark framework which aimed to provide a safe working environment for actors during intimate scenes, using the core principles of transparency, consent and choreography.

In October of that same year, the #TimesUp movement was founded, and Ita’s work as an intimacy coordinator became the industry gold standard.

Ita has worked on productions for Netflix, BBC, HBO, Hulu, Amazon, including Sex Education and Normal People, and has founded her own company, Intimacy on Set, where you are able to hire an intimacy practitioner, as well as access guidelines and resources for coordinating intimate scenes.

Ita has just released a book, Intimacy: A field guide to finding connection and feeling your deepest desires.
