Andy Lee switched from accounting to marketing at University, before meeting Hamish Blake and ditching classes altogether.
Together with Hamish, and our very own Ryan Shelton, Andy began making content for RMIT University’s student TV station including a show called Radio Karate, which would evolve into the production company of the same name.
From 2003, the name ‘Hamish and Andy’ began to gain traction in the media world. Hamish and Andy began the nation drive-time radio slot from 4pm-6pm, toppings the ratings in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, recording the highest ever audience share for a national FM radio show in Australia.
In 2010, Andy was named Cleo’s Bachelor of the Year, and from 2011-2014, Andy starred in the TV show Gap Year with Hamish, travelling to New York, Europe, Asia and South America over the consecutive seasons.
Hamish and Andy moved into podcast format in 2017, as they took on different projects including True Story with Hamish & Andy and Hamish and Andy’s Perfect Holiday.
In 2020, Andy joined The Front Bar, and in 2021 hosted and produced The Cube, as well as The Hundred with Andy Lee.
In 2025, Andy launched a gourmet dim sim brand Dimmies and Tinnies as well as opening an Australian themed pub in New York called Old Mates.
In another tangent of Andy’s life, he published 2016 Do Not Open This Book in 2016 as a one-off gift for his nephew. Do Not Open This Book was picked up for wider publication and has since been adapted in an animated TV show, Do Not Watch This TV Show.
