Joe Williams is an extremely talented rugby player, and by the age of 13, had been approached by 5 different NRL clubs.

Joe was born in Cowra, and raised in Wagga Wagga, and is a proud Wiradjuri First Nations Aboriginal Man.

Joe debuted for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2004 and went on to play for Penrith Panthers as well as Canterbury Bulldogs.

In 2009, Joe switch to professional boxing. During his stint as a boxer, Joe was twice the World Boxing Federation Junior Welterweight champion and won the World Boxing Council Asia Continental Boxing.

In 2014, Joe founded the organisation The Enemy Within which alleviate stigma and struggle for people with mental illness, anguish, or trauma. Joe has delivered this program to over 200 communities across Australia, and multiple countries around the world.

Through The Enemy Within Joe established Our Way Academy which works alongside schools to create environments in which First Nations kids have a chance to build healthy relationships, explore their identity and contribute to their school and family in a meaningful and enriching way.

In 2017, Joe was named as a finalist for the Courage Award in the National Indigenous Human Rights Awards, and in 2018 Joe was awarded the Suicide Prevention Australia Life Award for his work in suicide awareness and prevention.

Joe was a co-winner of the National Mental Health Prize in 2019, and is an Adjunct Associate Profession at the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland.
