Dr Yves Rees

Dr Yves Rees is a historian, podcaster, and Senior Lecturer in History at La Trobe University.

Yves is a historian of Australia in the world with a particular interests in gender, modernity, mobility and whiteness.

They are also the creator of the history podcast Archive Fever, and the author of Travelling to Tomorrow: the modern women who sparked Australia’s romance with America and All About Yves: Notes from a Transition.

Yves is currently the co-editor of History Australia (the official journal of the Australian Historical Association). They are also co-editor of Nothing to Hide: Voices of Trans and Gender Diverse Australia and Transnationalism, Nationalism and Australian History.

Yves was awarded the 2020 ABR Calibre Essay Prize, a 2021 Varuna Residential Fellowship and the 2018 Serle Award. They are the 2025 KSP Writers’ Centre Emerging Writer-in-Residence. Rees has judged the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, the Calibre Essay Prize and the Stella Prize.
